End of Year Challenges

If anyone wants to join me  in the  British Swimming  T-30 challenge again, meet me at the pool in time to start swimming at 8.30 OR 9.30am this Friday, 2nd December.
This is a great way to check and see how far you have progressed this year, and there's still time to improve by 31st December when we repeat the T-30.

T-30 = number of lengths you  swim in 30mins.  Can't remember who actually did this last year, but if you did, you will know what your current T-30 is.

Aim is to swim to your maximum ability - not go dead slow this month and then go like a rocket on 31st December!

FRIDAY SWIMS

I will no longer be swimming at 9am on Fridays because I will be training earlier.  Thanks to those who have turned up on Fridays and I hope you continue to enjoy your leisurely swims and coffee.

As I have not had any response to anything posted on this blog over the last six months I will not be posting anymore regular updates.  The links for tide and aqua times are all still available below and of course you can follow British Swimming via their website, on Twitter and Facebook.

OLYMPIC TICKET OFFERS

The Times Group (Times, Sunday Times, Sun)  newspapers are running a 'text to win' competition for tickets to 2012 Olympic swimming events.

I have no idea what the cost of the text is, so do check, it probably includes a donation to the 2012 Team fund.

SERIOUS ABOUT SWIMMING?

If you swim more than 20 lengths and want to increase your distance, time and style, there is a swimmer who would like a training buddy on Wednesday evenings 6.30pm.  Idea is to meet and encourage each other.  Contact me at swimselsey@yahoo.co.uk

SELSEY SENIORS SPLASHDOWN

A ten week challenge will start on 9th January for all senior swimmers.

It doesn't matter if you swim one length or one hundred lengths, the aim of this challnege is to help you gradually improve your swimming.

More details nearer the time, but pop the date in your 2012 diary now.

THE OASIS THIS WEEK

Now is the time to get down to our local pool.  The Groggles have gone, and the pool is wonderfully quiet.

Whether you swim for leisure or want to pace up and down and clock up the miles, the lanes are uncluttered, and the main swimming area is often deserted.

Spottted in the pool this week - an internationally reknowned Triathlon competitor in training.

BRITISH SWIMMING

I've got a golden ticket!

I've got tickets to the heats and finals of the British Swimming Championships at the Olympic Aquatics Centre next March.  This is where the places in Team GB for the London Olympics will be decided.

Tickets go on general sale next week, and cost £11.

If you love swimming, why not come and support the many young people who turn out of bed at 5am to train in pools across the country before going to school/college/work.
